State enterprise “Experimental design and technological bureau of the E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” (SE “EDTB of E.O. Paton EWI NASU”) is one of the recognized leaders in the field of development of welding technologies, welding equipment and design-technical documentation. Having the appropriate production facilities, based on broad co-operation with local and foreign enterprises, the scientific and technical personnel of company for more than 50 years has development of the means of welding process mechanization and automation, which are used with success both in out country and abroad.

With the beginning of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine, our colleagues found contacts with Nachtsichttechnik Jahnke and established cooperation in the purchase and supply of its products to Ukraine for transfer to the Armed Forces and special units of Ukraine.
SE “EDTB of E.O. Paton EWI NAS Ukraine” is an enterprise engaged in the development of technologies and design of equipment for various industries. In the conditions of the Russian aggression our enterprise is actively engaged in development of technologies and designs for the operative decision of problems of defense of the country. In addition, we adapt and train staff to work with equipment from foreign suppliers. In particular, we train operators, find solutions to optimize the use of optical devices of Nachtsichttechnik Jahnke. We have taken responsibility for the successful use of these devices in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
All the devices we received were tested exclusively in combat conditions. The conclusions of experts who have worked with these devices are the most positive. Without exaggeration, these devices save the lives of our soldiers and actively help to achieve a common goal - VICTORY.
And now in more detail:
- 16 JAHNKE THERMAL II thermal imagers. All devices work flawlessly, the quality of the received information does not cause any problems. The ability to adjust the necessary informative parameters in the menu and change them depending on specific conditions greatly facilitates combat missions. Special mention should be made of the possibility of working with mobile devices via Wi-Fi, which provides the organization of remote surveillance of the territory without the risk of injury to the operator. With the use of additional power sources (power bank) tracking the enemy is carried out around the clock.
- DJ8 NSV night vision device with infrared lamp. There is only one device in operation, but the feedback from the military is as positive as possible. The only thing we do not use is an infrared lamp, but this is done to prevent unmasking of the operator.
- DJ-8 1x25 night vision device, which is used together with the head mount. Quite effective over short distances and in low light and at dusk.
- Jahnke Noctis 1-6x28 optical sight was transferred by us to the sniper unit. At the request of the military, it is possible to attach a night vision nozzle.

DP DKTB IEZ im. E.O. Patona hopes to continue fruitful cooperation with Nachtsichttechnik Jahnke and in turn guarantees the most efficient supply of equipment to military units in the zone of active hostilities, and very much in need of modern high-tech optical devices.
Urgent! In October 2018, EDTB of PWI signed the Grant Agreement with the EU Commission “Horizon 2020” in the program of Maria Skladovska-Curie on the project “H2020-MSCA-RISE-2018: Research and Innovation Staff Exchange”. The project aims to promote international cooperation in related industries through the exchange of experience and innovation. Within the framework of the program, an International consortium was created, consisting of universities and enterprises from 8 countries, which included the EDTB of PWI. The main area of work is study of processes during welding of Double (duplex) stainless steels (DSS).The project starts in 2019 and is designed for 4 years.
As part of this project, scientists from the Polish University POLITECHNIKA SLASKA have already visited us, and our staff was on a business trip to the University of Liverpool LIVERPOOL JOHN MOORES UNIVERSITY (project coordinator). After the end of hostilities, we plan to revive cooperation with our foreign counterparts.
Our company applies the following approach to solving specific manufacturing tasks:
- development of optimum and cost-effective solutions for organization of welding processes in keeping with Сustomer specification;
- development and manufacturing of welding equipment, welding consumables and fixtures;
- direct mounting and setting-up of equipment in Customer facilities;
- development of design documentation for technological equipment;
- development of modern automated systems of welding process control, their manufacture, mounting and setting-up in Customer facility;
- author's supervision during the entire life cycle of the product: equipment upgrading, manufacturing and spare part supply, repair performance during guarantee period and under subcontracts;
